Tailgating a Jets Game with Max
My little sister has never been to a football game. As her brother, I feel like it is a right of passage for her to experience this American pastime. I contacted my childhood neighbor Mallios, Jets season ticket holder, who had extra tickets. When you go to game with Mallios, you don’t just show up to the game at kick off. Wake up calls were made at 7:30 am
Mallios to Me : gotta get to the tailgate at 9:00 am, we should really be there at 8:00 though…
Mallios : Jets Hero, the guy people ask to take Instagram photos with. 100% Jets from his hat down to his shoelaces. Mallios provided the whole group with Jets gear.
Schellhorn : Mallios’ frat buddy. Provided all of the food for the tailgate, purchased completely by his wife.
My sister : First time at a Football Game. Tailgate newbie. Long time critic.
Schellhorn opened the bag of food to reveal what we requested as hamburgers were instead Turkey burgers. After eating turkey for the last few days, my tolerance for the bird was at a low. I saw an instant flash of disappointment fill Mallios’ eyes. How could we have Turkey Burgers on game day?
Through out the parking lot, the aroma of beef barbecue filled the air. Sausages, ribs, skewers, steaks any thing you can imagine. But we had Turkey, American Cheese on some fresh Portuguese Rolls.
As a beef / Jets lover, Mallios was not amused. To compensate for the leanness of the Turkey, Mallios applied a double dose of cheese and admitted it wasn’t so bad after all. I mean, he ate 3 of them, and we only came with 6.
